A "positive mindset" in the midst of COVID-19

All of us are anxious about the increasing number of COVID patients as well as the extended community lock down. I admit I am one of them. COVID-19 is an infectious disease caused by the most recently discovered corona virus and is now a pandemic affecting many countries globally. Many countries set guidelines to avoid the worst-case scenario. Countries declare the Enhanced Community Quarantine as it can save thousands of people's lives. However, people are still worried and no one is to blame for that. The ECQ can really make people uneasy and worry about so many things. People might say "what can I do now/what will I do now? I'm stuck in the four corners of my house?', "I want to work, it's been more than a month since I've seen the outside world", and many other objections. No one is held responsible for having such kind of viewpoint.

Before the community lock down, some workers are always complaining about their overtime work, sleepless nights, no rest days, traffic, and so forth. Students might also think the same way as employees did like doing assignments/homework everyday, waking up early in the morning, monthly exams, and unending performance tasks. These are all scenario happened in real life. But despite the negativity, let us look on the good side of it. Since we are experiencing some adjustment, why not make our day to day living more productive than usual?
Let's take a look at some examples:

Some employees tend to eat on a fast-food chain. Why? They can't prepare their own meals as it can spend a lot of their time and they are exhausted working the whole 8 hours. Now the question is, can we make our life more productive during the Enhanced Community Quarantine? YES! Why not do some effort on making meals together with your family? Just like Véronique said “Cooking is a love affair with life. Cooking is a gift we must share. Parents and children can enjoy their time preparing everything from scratch and with fresh ingredients. This is surely one of the most satisfying and splendid things to do with your loved ones. I am not a mom and so, I tend to cook foods with my two little sisters and they really like it. I love it!

Let's move on and be realistic with the student's minds nowadays. Students make a fuss sometimes especially when they are taking surprise examinations and when there's a lot of homework to do at home after school. And now they are staying at home, watching anime, k-drama, listening to a well-known song, etc. are the things they do to cope up with the so-called "boring life." No one is pointing a finger to you for doing those things. But to make our life more productive while enjoying the things we wanted to do, we can create a good learning environment. How? Paul D'Astoli said, "Learning a foreign language is tough and involves a lot of mental exercises." Whether you learn a language for a specific reason or out of interest, learning a foreign language will lead to long-term success. Nowadays schools aren't catering to actual classes, but learning can still be possible. Watching educational programs can be very useful. Even watching foreign movies can be helpful to improve memory and keeps a person's brain healthy. By acquiring second language skills, you can now watch foreign movies without relying on the English subtitles. That's really me {sometimes} Hahaha! Learning is a continuous process and by doing so, we might be able to enjoy every moment of our life as a zealous student. Moreover, students can also review their school notes and modules since it became a pleasure for them to acquire academic knowledge. I am not saying that all of us should learn foreign languages, but in a broad sense learning is a must! Studying while we are staying at home is a good practice. Let us develop the habit of studying. It makes our life more productive than usual. I am pretty sure that parents and teachers will be proud of you guys if you make and build a learning habit. An English proud teacher is waving! Hahaha

There are so many things we can do during the ECQ period like reading Bible scriptures, playing musical instruments, gardening, studying, and many more. I know that you all want your life to be back on how it is used to be just like me. But let us remember the importance of exercising patience. "Those who have endured all the trials are considered happy." - James 5:11. Never be discouraged. Look for the brighter side and you'll be satisfied with the outcome. You are incredibly amazing to me! Remember: Staying at home can save you and your loved ones. It is the most practical precautionary measure all of us can do, so don't ignore this. Don't complain, make an action first. Making an effort is all you need to do in the time of crisis. Let's all be positive and be productive!
